Monday's

I don't mind Mondays so much now, mostly because I really like my job! But who wouldn't when your job is about deadlines and making lists if you are a planner!

Another thing I do on Monday's is that I like to think about my weekends and the best things we did!  We celebrated my husband's birthday and also attended the Metro Parks Summer Event!  It was so much fun.  If you follow me on Instagram you saw my post about the stick journal, probably my favorite thing ever!! Working on it with my son I just LOVE! He is my little artist and nature buff, so this was right up his alley!

Vincent is using his as his Nature Journal (we are letting him work on spelling through sounding out words, so it's his own creative spelling). He is planning on doing rubbings and drawing the things he sees out on our nature walks! If you are interested, you can check out my IG (@shelliesstory) and there is a pic of my Stick Journal and the Instructions, a super fun and quick thing to do with your kids!

I am working on trying to use the Happynichi process, right now though mine tend to look like a small journal. I am going to work on that this week! Try to improve my "doodles" and bullet points.  Hopefully I will have something at the end of the week to show of for my attempt.

I have also been trying to come up with usable notes for myself and others are welcome to download! Here's some pic's of what I have created, if you are interested, you can find them here

Gratitude

I am practicing writing things I am grateful for in my Happynichi (ok, I don’t doodle enough in it to be a real one… as I have said before I need to work on it). In doing this, it makes me look for more things that make me grateful. This has given me a different perspective on my life.   I feel like I am getting less frustrated and enjoying life a little more.   I sit at my planner at night and take the time to jot down my thoughts. This is where the keeping a mood tracker or gratitude list fits in.   Looking back on things that make you thankful gives you that feeling again.   I know we don’t all write just our plans in our planners, but we write things that happened and make us feel a certain way.   We like to make our planners pretty and filled with color because they make us happy, more than likely we already are jotting down those grateful moments. I also think that sometimes we might not be able to fully express our gratitude to the person we w...

💜 Pens 🖊🖋✒️✏️🖍

I love pens! I mean, like I look at a pen and want to write with it right away, if I like it I NEED it! I get excited when they are on sale and want every color in a style I love. Paper-Mate Flair comes out with new colors all the time and I get it stuck in my head that where I am just thinking about how much I want it. It’s a bad addiction. If someone picks up my pen to use I get a little sweaty, like are they going to press too hard, what if they take off with it? Ugh, I look like a NUT. I do get excited though when people ask me for my thoughts on a pen, then I have to go into great detail, do you want a ball point, gel ink or a fine line pen.   Are you left or right handed (lefty here!)? It depends on my mood with what I like in the moment. Usually I use my Paper-Mate Flair, then I might switch to my Stabilo 88’s.   It depends on what I am doing; writing, coloring, drawing… and sometimes I use a mix of them. I think that mixing the types can really give ...

Starting Something New

We’ve all started something new.   It’s thrilling, scary, nerve wracking; yet, it being new only lasts for a short time.   The thing that makes us or breaks us is do we keep up with it.   Many times the thing we are starting is being “healthier” going for walks or eating better.   Getting ready for my walk I can tell you I started waking up earlier and going for walks every morning. I decided that I want to be healthier for my son and not be the person who goes to work, comes home, and sleeps (which is what I was doing every day). I wasn’t being the best mom I could be.   Now I have been doing it for 2 weeks, so I feel like it’s still pretty new, but it is part of my routine.   I have learned that if I miss a day (because I missed one) I am tired and feel a little distracted throughout the day.   I am a much better person if I do it. I do log these walks (the fact I do it) in my planner with a HOORAY for me.   It is part of my FIT goal an...
